If you’re trying to lose weight, reduce stubborn belly fat, and finally build a healthy habit that actually lasts, it’s very easy to assume the solution is to tighten the rules. Many women in midlife fall into this pattern without even realizing it. They decide that if they could just be stricter, more disciplined, and more “on plan,” then everything would finally click into place. So they add more food rules, more restrictions, and more promises to themselves that this time they will do it perfectly.
The problem is that this approach often creates the very cycle they are trying to escape. For a few days, things go well. Meals feel controlled, choices feel intentional, and there is a sense of progress. But then real life happens—a birthday party, a dinner out, a stressful afternoon, or a vacation—and suddenly one unplanned food choice feels like a failure. Instead of adjusting and moving forward, the mind often jumps to, I already messed up, so...

Bladder leaks after 40 can feel embarrassing, frustrating, and incredibly isolating. When hormone imbalance, stress incontinence, urge incontinence, and other bladder symptoms begin happening at the same time, you may find yourself planning workouts, errands, travel, and even social activities around the nearest bathroom.
For years, I managed my symptoms instead of fully addressing them. I wore panty liners, changed how I exercised, emptied my bladder before leaving the house, and tried to laugh off moments that were not actually funny.
I told myself this was probably part of having babies and getting older.
But bladder leaks are not something we should automatically accept as normal after 40. In this very personal episode of The Menopause Makeover Podcast, I shared my experience five days after pelvic floor reconstruction and bladder sling surgery.
I want to talk honestly about hormone imbalance, incontinence and treatment, pelvic organ pr...

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you just feel off… mentally drained, a little irritated, and not quite like yourself?
You’re trying to stay on plan.
You want to make good choices.
But something just feels harder than it should.
And in midlife, it’s easy to assume it’s hormone imbalance.
Now yes—hormones absolutely play a role. But what I’ve found (in my own life and coaching so many women like you) is that sometimes it’s not just hormones…
It’s your mindset and where your energy is going.
Â
Let me tell you what happened to me this week.
I found myself in a situation with someone who was honestly just being… a little difficult. Not sinful. Not a major issue. Just frustrating.
And instead of letting it go, I started:
And before I knew it, something small had taken up a lot ...

If you’ve ever stood in your kitchen staring at your food, your supplements, or even your own reflection and thought, “How am I a capable grown woman who suddenly can’t figure out what to eat?” — I want you to take a deep breath. You’re not losing your mind. And you’re definitely not alone. Menopause has a way of catching even the strongest, most organized women off guard. Hormone imbalance brings a kind of internal chaos that can shake your confidence and make simple decisions feel surprisingly heavy.
I hear it every week in my coaching calls. Women who’ve raised large families, run businesses, supervised dozens of employees, homeschooled children, managed chronic illnesses, served in ministry — women who have done hard things for decades — suddenly hit perimenopause or menopause and think, “Why can’t I do what I used to do?” And the quiet fear underneath that question is just as heavy: “What’s wrong with me?”
The truth is nothing is wrong wi...

These changes aren’t just frustrating—they’re directly tied to what’s happening with your hormones. Sleep and stress are closely linked to hormone balance, and when they’re out of sync, it creates a domino effect that can derail your health, energy, and weight loss goals.
Let's break down why sleep and stress are such powerful players in your midlife journey and how they impact key hormones like cortisol, insulin, estrogen, and progesterone. You’ll also find actionable strategies to reclaim your rest, reduce stress, and support your body during this new season.
