Secrets to Trim Healthy Mama eating after Menopause

Hormones play a large part of fat loss and I'm not just talking about estrogen, progesterone, testosterone or DHEA. I'm talking about all your hormones, but especially insulin, cortisol, thyroid, and estrogen. Those four hormones are really mack daddy hormones that contribute to weight loss. 

 

The great thing about the Trim Healthy Mama plan is that everything that it stands for and all of the concepts the plan is based on help us with regulating blood sugar. There are some things though that need to change in our 40-plus season. These are the steps that we focus on in the Feminine Freedom path. Making these changes takes time and you might be frustrated with where you are right now. But if you can apply these principles, and you're consistent, then you can start shrinking fat cells, and you can see results. So I just want you to put on your patience. 

 

The Trim Healthy Mama plan is our foundation, staying on plan is key but we tweak it for our older season. I'm going to share some things with you that are just a tad bit different than what the Trim Healthy Mama book says. I'm not saying don't do the foundation, if you need to do the Trim Healthy Mama plan foundation, and that's working for you please do it. But as I've been coaching women over the last four or five years, and myself too, we found that we needed to tweak the plan to make it work for us. So we had to find some new ways to do Trim Healthy Mama. We aren’t moving away from concepts or principles. I'm just showing you what has helped women over 40 to lose weight and feel better. 

 

If you have been on the Trim Healthy Mama plan for a while and menopause has kicked your butt. Then you need some strategy. 

 

I started my journey through perimenopause in a difficult state. Dealing with Hashimoto's and adrenal fatigue. Watching my weight going up and down, up and down. And then perimenopause. Oh my! That was a rough, rough, rough season. Now I’m in menopause and experiencing new healthy related issues to learn to navigate.

 

 

 

Imagine if you could know exactly what to eat, see the fat melt away, feel confident in meal planning and prep and use Trim Healthy Mama fuel types strategically and see the results that you desire. 

 

Maybe you've tried to understand the Trim Healthy Mama plan. But you let overwhelm stop you, you've lost confidence, and you're inconsistent with staying on plan. 

 

Being inconsistent is probably one of the number one things that I see and I'm just gonna go ahead and give you a secret right now. 

 

Learning to continue to show up no matter what and make it non-negotiable is key to being consistent. 

 

Just think about how many times you listen to your brain tell you “Well, I ate the Oreos, and then I ate the pizza so I might as well.” Or you are bouncing between an all-or-nothing mindset or a victim mindset. All of these are just thoughts and they are leading to your inconsistency. You can choose thoughts to stay on plan and you will get those results. Some women get results in three months. Some women get results in six months. Some women get results in nine months. I have seen a client be in a weight loss stall for as long as 14 months without seeing any change in their weight, except of course, they're feeding their body well, and then they start losing again. Waiting any length of time can be very frustrating but what is your alternative? The alternative to go off on off on off on? Or do some type of extreme diets that get your hormones whacked? We all have a lot of inconsistencies and it’s time to work on that.

 

Make a deal with yourself that no matter what you are committed to your health, no matter what you are committed to giving your body, what it body needs. 

 

Have you spent time and money but nothing changes? And you're just stuck? You have thoughts like, “I've tried everything” or “I've never been able to keep the weight off.” These are the biggest sabotaging thoughts. If that's the story you tell yourself, you are going to fulfill it.  Being mean to yourself, even if you think it's being truthful will not make you show up better. You've got to shift the story. “I may have not been able to keep it off in the past, but I'm learning to keep it off now.” “I'm going to figure out how to keep the weight off, it doesn't matter what my past story is, my new story is that I'm going to keep the weight off.” 

 

That's the kind of attitude and thinking that we need to hone in on. 

  

 

You don't have to be a slave to counting calories and macros.

 

You don't have to feel deprived and hungry, you don't have to slow your metabolism down by eating less. Please don't stop eating or eat less and exercise more! That is a sure way to slow your metabolism down. 

 

Don't avoid E (energizing) meals. We want to rev your metabolism and that is done best by eating healthy carbs. You don't need to make what you eat complicated, let's simplify it. 

 

You don't have to be in the kitchen cooking every single recipe every day. 

 

And you don't need to be confused.
