We’ve all been there. You start strong on your Trim Healthy journey — you’ve got your protein prepped, your sippers ready, your fridge organized — and then life hits. Hormones shift, stress builds, and before you know it, you’ve fallen off the Trim Healthy train again.
Maybe it started with a few bites, licks, and tastes. Or maybe it was a full-on derailment that turned into weeks of off-plan choices. Either way, if you’re feeling frustrated and wondering how to get back on track, take a deep breath. You haven’t failed. You just need a plan, a little grace, and a mindset reset.
As your Trim Healthy coach and menopause fitness specialist, I’m here to help you find your footing again — without guilt, overwhelm, or starting from scratch.
Let’s get honest for a second: staying consistent isn’t about willpower or perfection. It’s about rhythm.
In midlife, your body and hormones are constantly shifting. What used to work before menopause doesn’t always work now — not because Trim Healthy stopped working, but because your season changed.
When your hormones are fluctuating, stress levels are higher, and sleep isn’t great, it’s easy to feel like your body isn’t playing fair. That’s why consistency feels so elusive. But here’s the truth: you don’t need to be perfect to make progress. You just need to keep showing up.
Every woman who’s ever reached her goals has had to learn the art of getting back on the train.

Before you overhaul your fridge or plan your next E or S meal, let’s start with your mindset.
When you tell yourself, “I just can’t stay on plan,” your brain believes it. That thought creates a feeling of defeat, which leads to inaction — and eventually more off-plan choices.
So, let’s flip that.
Try this reframe:
→ “I’m learning to be consistent.”
That simple shift gives you room to grow while keeping you grounded in truth. You don’t have to “arrive” to make progress. You just have to take the next right step.
Our thoughts create our actions. When we choose self-compassion and curiosity instead of judgment, we open the door to lasting change.

The more we can automate healthy habits, the less we rely on motivation. And friend — motivation is fickle.
When I’m coaching women in midlife, one of the biggest game changers I see is when they simplify. Consistency grows when you stop overcomplicating your plan.
Here’s what I tell my clients to focus on first:
This kind of system eliminates decision fatigue — which is often the biggest reason we fall off plan.
Examples:
The next time you find yourself off the rails, you don’t need to panic. You just need to grab your rescue list and get back on the train.

Here’s what I want every woman over 40 to understand: consistency is cultivated, not inherited.
For some of us, it doesn’t come naturally — and that’s okay. You’re learning a new skill, and it’s one that takes time and practice.
When you fall off, instead of spiraling into guilt or shame, get curious:
This shift from judgment to curiosity is where real transformation happens.
When I was in my early Trim Healthy days (nine kids, homeschooling, exhaustion on repeat), consistency felt impossible. But I made a decision early on — I would not quit.
Did I take breaks? Sure. Did I wander off the train? You bet. But I always came back. That’s what built my long-term success — not perfection, but perseverance.

When you’ve fallen off the Trim Healthy train, it’s easy to think you need more discipline. But what you really need is more surrender.
Consistency isn’t a battle of willpower — it’s a partnership with grace.
When I get weary or discouraged, I go back to Galatians 6:9: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
That means your next on-plan meal matters.
Your next walk matters.
Your next prayer asking for strength matters.
When you partner with God in your wellness, you’re not just losing weight — you’re stewarding your body as the temple He created.
So ask Him to help you stay consistent, one choice at a time.

If you want to rebuild momentum, start small.
Here are a few non-negotiables that help my clients stay on plan when life gets busy:
These small acts compound into huge results over time. Remember the principle of “1% better”? Each small step forward builds consistency and confidence.
You don’t need a full restart. You just need your next step.
Falling off the Trim Healthy train doesn’t mean you’ve failed — it means you’re human.
The women who see success in midlife aren’t the ones who do everything perfectly. They’re the ones who keep getting back on, even when it’s hard.
You don’t need to earn your worth through your food choices or your scale victories. You just need to show up, renew your mind, and take the next right step with grace.
Because your next choice always counts — and you can start again today.
