5 Fat-Burning Foods Proven To Get You Results

One of the most common frustrations I hear from my fellow Trim Healthy Mamas in midlife is the increase in fat around their waist.


Today, I want to share the top 5 foods you can use in your everyday routine that are simple and effective at burning fat and creating an optimal environment for a better, healthier, and faster metabolism. 

Understanding Fat Loss:

But first, let's debunk a common myth right off the bat: you can't spot-reduce belly fat with endless crunches or planks. 



We can target fat loss through smart food choices, exercise, and lifestyle tweaks.


Our goal? Turning our bodies into fat-burning powerhouses.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar:

First up on our fat-burning food list is apple cider vinegar (ACV). Packed with acetic acid, ACV supports digestion and helps regulate blood sugar levels. By incorporating ACV into your routine, you can potentially reduce belly fat and support overall wellness. 


When blood sugar spikes, cortisol spikes, which in turn causes the body to store fat. 


So, fat loss is a lot about regulating blood sugar, not about calories in and calories out. That's just a piece of the puzzle. The other piece is lowering the blood sugar response after meals.


A great fat-burning hack is to drink Apple Cider Vinegar before your meals. This helps lower blood sugar levels and has been scientifically proven to reduce belly fat. 


My routine is to drink a small shot of Apple Cider Vinegar in a bit of water before I eat.

I like to use 2-3 teaspoons in 6 ounces of water.  


Start with small doses before meals and gradually increase to find your sweet spot.

2. Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice isn't just a zesty addition to your water or salads; it's also a powerful ally in your fat-burning journey. 


Rich in vitamin C and boasting digestion-slowing properties, lemon juice helps curb cravings and stabilize blood sugar levels. 

If you want to become more sensitive to insulin, lemon juice is a great addition to your meals. Squeeze it into your drinks, over your salad, on your fish, and mix it into your cottage cheese.

3. Protein Power:

Ah, protein—the unsung hero of fat loss. 


Not only does protein require more energy to digest, but it also promotes satiety and supports muscle growth. 


Protein can help you lose fat because your body works harder to burn it, which makes it a thermogenic food. It helps control your blood sugar and increases fat oxidation, which is using fat as fuel.


Aim for four doses of protein throughout the day, each packing a punch of at least 20 grams. 



With protein on your side, you'll be well-equipped to tackle fat loss head-on.


4. Omega 3 for the Win:

You know what's crazy?


Omega-3 fats won't make you pack on the pounds unless, of course, you're going overboard with them.


But get this: when you have them in the right balance, especially with those lighter, satisfying meals, they're like flipping a switch for fat burning. It's all about finding that sweet spot!


5. Embracing Fermented Foods and Prebiotics:

Last but certainly not least, let's talk about fermented foods and prebiotics. 


These gut-friendly superstars aid digestion, promote a healthy microbiome and help burn fat. 


Fermented foods like kimchi and kefir introduce beneficial bacteria into your gut. 



Not only do you get the power from the probiotics, you also get the hit of an increase in fiber from the vegetables. 


In contrast, prebiotic-rich foods such as garlic and asparagus nourish these microbes, setting the stage for optimal fat metabolism.


Green tea is another fat-burning favorite known to help regulate hunger hormones, decrease inflammation, and boost good bacteria. It also helps good bacteria grow while stopping bad bacteria.
