Have you ever had one of those weeks where you just feel off… mentally drained, a little irritated, and not quite like yourself?
You’re trying to stay on plan.
You want to make good choices.
But something just feels harder than it should.
And in midlife, it’s easy to assume it’s hormone imbalance.
Now yes—hormones absolutely play a role. But what I’ve found (in my own life and coaching so many women like you) is that sometimes it’s not just hormones…
It’s your mindset and where your energy is going.
Let me tell you what happened to me this week.
I found myself in a situation with someone who was honestly just being… a little difficult. Not sinful. Not a major issue. Just frustrating.
And instead of letting it go, I started:
And before I knew it, something small had taken up a lot of space in my mind.
That’s when it hit me…
👉 I was giving my energy to something that wasn’t serving me.
And friend, this matters more than we think—especially in midlife.
One of the biggest things I hear from women in perimenopause and menopause is this:
“I just don’t have the energy I used to.”
And that’s real.
But here’s the part we don’t always talk about…
You don’t just lose energy.
You also spend energy—mentally and emotionally—every single day.
And sometimes?
We’re spending it on the wrong things.
Here’s the mindset pattern I see over and over (and I caught myself in it this week):
👉 Focusing on what’s frustrating, irritating, or out of your control
It looks like:
And it feels justified in the moment.
But what it’s actually doing is draining your emotional and mental energy.
It’s like leaving a light on all day in a room you’re not even using.
There’s a simple truth here:
👉 What you focus on develops.
Think about a camera.
Whatever you focus on is what comes into view when the picture is taken.
So if your mindset is locked onto frustration, irritation, or offense…
That’s what fills your mental space.
That’s what shapes your mood.
And ultimately, that’s what affects your choices.
This is where it connects to your health in a very real way.
When your mindset is in a place of frustration or mental overload:
And yes… this can impact your hormones, your metabolism, and your ability to lose weight.
Not because you’re doing anything “wrong”…
But because your energy is already spent before you even get to your habits.
In the middle of all of this, I felt that gentle nudge…
That quiet correction that brought me back to truth.
It was simple:
👉 Don’t give this your energy.
No analyzing.
No replaying.
No building a case.
Just… release it.
And instead?
👉 Send love and move on.
This brought a verse to mind:
“Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards…”
It’s not usually the big things that throw us off.
It’s the little ones.
These are the “little foxes” that quietly steal your peace—and your energy.
And before long, you’re wondering:
👉 Where did my motivation go?
So what do we actually do with this?
Let me make this really simple and practical for you.
This one question can shift everything.
Before you replay a conversation or dwell on something, pause and ask:
👉 Is this worth my energy today?
Most of the time, the answer is no.
This was a big one for me.
You don’t have to fix everyone.
You don’t have to take everything personally.
People can have their opinions.
They can act how they act.
And you can still choose peace.
You are not required to:
You get to decide what stays in your mind.
That’s part of learning how to change your mindset in midlife.
Instead of focusing on what’s draining you, shift toward what builds you:
This is where your energy actually creates results.
If there’s one thing I want you to take from this, it’s this:
👉 Energy management is just as important as food and fitness in midlife.
You can have the best Trim Healthy plan in the world…
But if your mindset is constantly drained, distracted, or overwhelmed…
It’s going to feel hard to follow through.
You don’t have to carry everything.
You don’t have to give your energy to every thought, every situation, or every person.
You get to choose.
And sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is:
👉 Not give it energy.
👉 Choose peace.
👉 Move forward.
Because when your mindset is aligned, your energy follows.
And when your energy is protected…
Everything else gets easier.
✔ What you focus on shapes your mindset
✔ Your mindset determines where your energy goes
✔ Your energy impacts your consistency, hormones, and results
✔ Protecting your peace is a strategy—not a luxury
